I Am Hachiko: It’s Not Just What You Feed Me, It’s How You Feed Me
A Dog’s Silent Message About Nutrition and Love
I’m a dog. That means I can’t choose what I eat. I don’t write shopping lists or cook. But my body knows the difference between what heals and what harms. And my heart knows when you care.

A bowl of food, given with love, isn’t just a meal to me it’s safety, attention, and life itself.

1. Feed Me What I Need, Not What’s Left Over
“If it’s not good for you, don’t assume it’s good for me.” I don’t want scraps or spicy leftovers. Your salty, greasy food may taste good to you but it can make me sick. Onions, garlic, chocolate, grapes even small amounts can be poison for dogs.

What to do: Stick to vet recommended dry or wet food, or carefully prepared home cooked meals with proper ingredients and balance.

2. Protein Is My Power Source
“To run, play, and protect you I need strength.” Dogs are primarily meat eaters. Protein fuels our muscles, our heart, and our energy. But we also need a balance of healthy fats and digestible carbs.

What to do: Feed high quality animal proteins like chicken, turkey, or beef, paired with digestible carbs like oats, rice, or sweet potatoes.

3. Water Is Silent Life
“Sometimes I don’t need food I just need water.” Lack of water causes more harm than you think: dehydration, weakness, kidney problems. We suffer in silence when there’s no clean bowl nearby.

What to do: Always provide clean, fresh water. Use stainless steel or ceramic bowls instead of plastic.

4. Routine Matters More Than Variety
“I feel safe when I know when and where my food will come.” Random feeding times confuse our bodies and our minds. We thrive on rhythm not surprises.

What to do: Feed 1–2 meals a day at consistent times, in the same place. Stability is love in action.

5. Too Much Love Can Hurt
“If I wag my tail, it doesn’t mean I’m hungry. It means I love you. But you feed me again... and again.” Extra treats aren’t always kindness they can be slow harm. Obesity leads to heart issues, joint pain, liver strain. We pay the price for overfeeding with shorter lives.

What to do: Limit treats. Choose low calorie options. Remember not every act of love needs to be food.

I Am Hachiko. Here’s What I Ask: It doesn’t take much to fill my stomach. But feeding me right that’s how you show me true love.

What you feed me matters. But why and how you feed me… That becomes my health. That becomes my life.

Because I look up to you. Your choices shape my time on this earth.
